Nancy O'Dell's initial work in the industry of broadcast was as an anchor and reporter at WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Then, she joined WCBD as an anchor in the morning and a crime reporter. While in Charleston O'Dell's reporting regarding the police's lenient approach towards DUI cases led to the launch of a State Law Enforcement Division investigation which resulted in the states authorities again releasing a more stringent directive regarding the instances. Ms. O'Dell received an award for the Best Report of the Award from the Associated Press for South Carolina's media. Following her work in Charleston O'Dell served as co-anchor and investigative reporter for the NBC Miami station WTVJ-TV prior to her move to Access Hollywood as a weekend anchor and a weekday reporter. The present role of O'Dell as a host on Access Hollywood is complemented by the work she has done for NBC News Today, Dateline NBC as well as NBC News. She has co-hosted a variety of pre-shows and arrivals shows to The Emmys as well as The Golden Globe Awards. The other shows she has hosted include the Miss USA pageant, and Miss Universe.
